Author : Kamil KRASUSKI |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The results of research concerning the implementation of the GNSS technique in the area of air navigation are presented in this article. In particular, a research test was conducted for the purposes of checking the functioning of a satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) to assist with air navigation. Ultimately, analyses of the parameters of accuracy, availability, continuity and integrity with the procedure when landing aircraft with an SBAS APV-I landing were conducted. The navigation and observation data of the GPS system and differential European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) corrections were used in the research test. The navigation and observation data of the GPS system in the RINEX format were registered through the Topcon Hiper Pro receiver placed in the cabin of pilots in the Cessna 172 aircraft during a flight experiment conducted in Deblin in 2010. The coordinates of the Cessna 172 aircraft in the ellipsoid BLh frame were reconstructed by using the solution offered by the single point positioning (SPP) method in the RTKLIB program. The accuracy when setting coordinates of the aircraft is higher than 2.4 m in the horizontal plane and better than 4 m in the vertical plane. The integrity of the satellite positioning is higher than 15 m in the horizontal plane and better than 21.1 m in the vertical plane. The availability of the constellation of GPS/EGNOS satellites equalled 100% during the flight experiment, which confirms that the loss of continuity when determining the position of the aircraft did not occur. The parameters of the accuracy and the integrity with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) technical standards were compared in this article. The results of the conducted test shows that the presented research methods can be applied in the precise positioning of the aircraft when using the GPS/EGNOS solution for air navigation. |

Author : Marianna JACYNA, Piotr GOLEBIOWSKI, Miroslaw KRZESNIAK |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :Rail traffic organization is a multifactorial decision-making problem. To achieve the best results and reduce the risk of error when deciding on its implementation, appropriate algorithms should be identified and implemented in the form of computer tools, allowing for the optimal solution to be obtained. This paper discusses the process of organizing freight traffic on the rail network. The algorithm of relocating loaded cars in a compact and dispersed system is discussed. In turn, it is been indicated that the movement of empty and loaded cars must follow a strictly defined timetable. A heuristic algorithm supporting decision-making in the area of rail freight traffic management is presented, divided between the concept development stage, the timetable design stage for the developed concept, and its implementation in the form of specialized tools. An example of how the application works is also presented. |

CHANGE TRENDS IN THE USE OF PASSENGER CARS ON URBAN TRIPS: CAR-POOLING IN GDYNIA |
Author : Katarzyna HEBEL, Marcin WOLEK |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The wide accessibility of European citizens to cars results in problems caused by their excessive use as a means of urban transport. Given this situation, it is necessary to find new solutions for the more efficient use of passenger cars in cities. This problem affects almost all European cities, including those in Poland. The paper analyses the level of motorization and modal split in Polish cities with county status, while selected European cities serve as a background to determine the scale of the problem. In the search of solutions in relation to Poland, an analysis of different documents outlining the directions of urban mobility was conducted. One of these documents concerned the promotion of car-pooling, the history of which dates back to the Second World War and the 1950s. Initially introduced in the USA, its increasing development in European cities has been witnessed in recent years. Research on the evaluation of real car-pooling in Polish cities was conducted in Gdynia by the authors of this study. The results of marketing research presented in the article have determined the degree to which participants in urban mobility are inclined to take part in car-pooling schemes in Polish cities. |

Author : Monika N. BUGDOL, Marcin D. BUGDOL, Marcin GRZEGORZEK, Andrzej W. MITAS |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :The Bluetooth standard is a low-cost, very popular communication protocol offering a wide range of applications in many fields. In this paper, a novel system for road traffic estimation using Bluetooth sensors has been presented. The system consists of three main modules: filtration, statistical analysis of historical, and traffic estimation and prediction. The filtration module is responsible for the classification of road users and detecting measurements that should be removed. Traffic estimation has been performed on the basis of the data collected by Bluetooth measuring devices and information on external conditions (e.g., temperature), all of which have been gathered in the city of Bielsko-Biala (Poland). The obtained results are very promising. The smallest average relative error between the number of cars estimated by the model and the actual traffic was less than 10%. |

METHODOLOGY FOR EXAMINING THE LINKS BETWEEN TRANSPORT AND THE ECONOMY |
Author : Maciej MINDUR |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This paper discusses the findings of studies on the relationship between the world economy and transport, based on the polynomial curve in 1995-2015. The socio-economic measures were reviewed, recognizing that GDP, although not reflecting what is happening in the social sphere, is the best indicator of economic growth, especially its dynamics. The results of the review show a high convergence in the shaping of the polynomial curves representing GDP and total transport, which is confirmed by the closeness of this relationship, as well the relationship between economic development and transport. The coefficients R2 of the variables studied are fully reliable, ranging from 0.9725 to 0.9954. |

GRADIENT-BASED VEHICLE DETECTION USING A TWO-SEGMENT DETECTION FIELD |
Author : Zbigniew CZAPLA |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This paper presents a method of vehicle detection using the conversion of images from a source image sequence into binary target images. This conversion is performed on the basis of small image gradients. The location of binary values after conversion is in accordance with the edges of the converted image. For all processed images, a detection field is defined, which is composed of two segments. In the area of each segment, the sum of the edge values is calculated. On the basis of the calculated sums within the segments, an adjusted sum of the edge values is established, which allows for the determination of the state of the detection field. Vehicle detection is carried out by recognition of distinctive changes in the state of the detection field caused by the passing vehicle. Experimental results are provided. |

Author : Adam BAWORSKI, Piotr CZECH, Krzysztof GARBALA, Kazimierz WITASZEK, Zbigniew STANIK |
Abstract | Full Text |
Abstract :This paper deals with problems relating to the impact of wind power plants on the landscape and their acceptance by society. The advantages and disadvantages of wind power energy produced by such energy plants are discussed. It is observed that most of the disadvantages of classic windmills can be avoided with the application of wind turbines with vertical spin axes. These turbines are designed for consumers who need power sources up to 1.5 kW. This paper also presents new and original construction solutions for these types of turbine masts, which are defined as types “F,” “2F” and “F/2F”. It is concluded that the presented solutions are easily integrated with the landscape, architecture and infrastructure of the region. The work also introduces research results concerning wind speed in the Bialystok region (Nowosiólki, near Krypno). As the range of wind speed changes over time is relatively wide, this influences the value of momentary turbine power. The research results indicate that from October to March, wind speeds are significantly greater than during the remaining months. |
